Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central South Carolina
and East Central Georgia
National Weather Service Columbia SC
141 AM EDT Thu Mar 12 2026

.DISCUSSION...
A cold front continues to approach the forecast area from the
west. Strong southwesterly winds are forecast to continue ahead of
this, with a sharp wind shift out of the west and then the
northwest by this evening. Ahead of this front, a strong line of
showers/embedded storms is forecast to push through the forecast
area from west to east between 7a and 12p, with showers lingering
into the early afternoon hours. Weather conditions improve Friday
and Saturday, with dry air overspreading the region as high
pressure settles in. Min RH values return to the 25-35% range both
days under sunny skies. Our next weather maker should approach
and pass Sunday and Monday, with cold and dry air moving in early
next week.

Fog potential tonight: Fog potential is low tonight.
