Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central South Carolina
and East Central Georgia
National Weather Service Columbia SC
249 AM EDT Sun Apr 26 2026

.DISCUSSION...
A Burn Ban issued by the South Carolina Forestry Commission
remains in effect for the entire state until further notice.
Georgia Forestry Commission has also issued a Burn Ban for
McDuffie, Columbia, Richmond, and Burke counties until further
notice.

Isolated showers continue across the area this morning, generally
decreasing in coverage through the day. However, only light rainfall
amounts should be anticipated, and a few lightning strikes cannot
be ruled out. Monday is expected to be mainly dry, but the rest
of the week should feature several chances for additional rainfall.
The downside is the low expectation that any rain accumulations will
improve our drought conditions substantially. With the increased
moisture moving into the area, afternoon RH values are expected
to stay above critical levels through at least midweek. Any
thunderstorms could produce gusty and erratic winds. Outside of
convective gusts, surface winds should remain less than 15 mph from
the northeast through Monday. By Wednesday, southwest winds could
approach 15 mph with higher gusts in the afternoon.

Fog potential tonight: Widespread fog not expected.
