Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central South Carolina
and East Central Georgia
National Weather Service Columbia SC
1243 PM EST Mon Feb 23 2026

.DISCUSSION...
Slightly better moisture recovery is expected tonight as
winds begin slowly shifting from the northwest toward
the west Tuesday morning. Winds will then become more
southwesterly by the afternoon hours. As high pressure
builds in, winds will weaken some with any gusts remaining
under 15 mph. Minimum RH values are once again expected to
be between 25-30%, but with weaker winds, less concern
will exist. Moisture looks to continue increasing Wednesday
as southwesterly flow strengthens ahead of an incoming low
pressure system. Winds may gust toward 20-25 mph with minimum
RH values bottoming out near 40-45%. The low pressure system
and a cold front nears the region on Thursday, bringing back
rain chances mainly late in day, continuing into Friday. At this
time, drier conditions are expected over the weekend.

Fog potential tonight: Fog is not expected tonight.
