Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central South Carolina
and East Central Georgia
National Weather Service Columbia SC
252 AM EDT Mon Apr 27 2026
.DISCUSSION...
A Burn Ban issued by the South Carolina Forestry Commission
remains in effect for the entire state until further notice.
Georgia Forestry Commission has also issued a Burn Ban for
McDuffie, Columbia, Richmond, and Burke counties until further
notice.
High pressure will build into the region today and persist
over the area Tuesday. Expect elevated northeast winds around
10 to 15 mph into late morning before weakening a bit this afternoon.
Winds become more easterly and variable in nature on Tuesday and
generally remaining less than 10 mph. Drier air behind the front
will allow for min RH values of 30-35 percent this afternoon.
Moisture will increase again by Tuesday, with the pattern becoming
slightly more active around mid-week. There should be a few chances
for rain starting Wednesday, and continuing each day into this
weekend. The best chances for up to 0.5" of rain looks to be Wednesday
and Wednesday night. Unfortunately, these accumulations will have
little to no impact on our drought and the probability of additional
significant rainfall this week is fairly low into this weekend.
Winds on Wednesday should become southwesterly around 10 to 15
mph with higher gusts.
Fog potential tonight: Widespread fog not expected.
