.DISCUSSION...
(Today through Saturday)
Issued at 300 AM CDT Sun Sep 8 2024

A beautiful clear night is upon us at this hour as current
temperatures are in the lower 50s to lower 60s with slightly
moderate northeast winds at the surface. Continued clear skies
will result in this morning's low temperatures in the upper 40s to
lower 50s. A cool and dry airmass will remain fixed over the
region through tomorrow morning. As a result, below normal
temperatures will reside over the region through Monday morning.
Today's highs will be in the upper 70s to lower 80s and tomorrow
morning's lows will be in the upper 40s to mid 50s. Don't forget
to grab a jacket when heading out the door today and tomorrow.
Surface high pressure and upper- level ridging will continue
building over the Mid-South leading to benign weather through at
least Wednesday afternoon. As quasi- zonal flow begins to build
over the area late tomorrow morning, temperatures will begin to
warm with highs into the mid 80s to lower 90s tomorrow through
mid-week.

The main weather story over the next 7 days is the potential
tropical disturbance that looks move into the western Gulf of
Mexico track north into the Lower Mississippi valley through late
week. Though we are still several days out with such, much can
change, precipitation chances continue to increase Thursday
morning through Friday with 40-60 PoPs. Timing, intensity, and
placement of where this potential system sets up will impact QPF
amounts and temperatures late next week. Current forecast QPF
amounts range between 2-6", greatest amounts over the Mississippi
Delta region. Forecast temperatures late next week are in the
upper 70s to lower 80s.
