.DISCUSSION...
Humidity has increased and a warm Friday is forecast. A sharp change
is in store on Saturday afternoon into the evening as a cold front
brings breezy N to NNW winds and much drier air. Near critical fire
weather conditions are expected late in the day for our western
counties near the Rio Grande where RH will dip into the upper teens
and lower 20s concurrent with sustained winds at 20 ft of 10-20 mph.
Other than isolated showers near US-77, no precipitation is
forecast. Sunday will be dry area wide with minimum RH values near
or below 20 percent, however winds will be on the downtrend as RH
reaches a minimum in the afternoon. Nonetheless, pockets of elevated
fire weather conditions are possible in the early to mid afternoon.
Winds shift to the south-southeast starting early next week and this
will allow for temperatures along with humidity levels to gradually
modify with time. The next upper level storm system is looking to
trend more favorable for some potential wetting rains Wednesday
through Friday, with the best chances at this time appearing to be
over western portions of the region.
