Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Eastern North Carolina
National Weather Service Newport/Morehead City NC
452 PM EDT Thu May 1 2025

.DISCUSSION....
Today's seabreeze will clear through the remainder of ENC by 6 pm.
A light south to southwest wind will then continue through early
Friday morning. Like today, the seabreeze is expected to develop
earlier in the day and move north through ENC earlier than normal.
This puts the seabreeze and the associated wind shift moving
through Onslow, Craven, Jones, and Carteret Counties between
12pm-2pm, Duplin, Lenoir, and northern Craven Counties between
2pm-4pm, and then 4pm-6pm for counties to the north of there.
Isolated thunderstorms will be possible between 4pm-9pm on Friday,
and mainly focused across the coastal plain. Saturday is now
looking drier, but a widespread wetting rain still appears likely
Sunday or Monday.
