.DISCUSSION...
Southwest winds will steadily increase into the mid-day hours,
peaking between 10 AM and 3 PM with sustained winds of 10-20 mph
and gusts up to 20-30 mph. During this peak timeframe, a boundary
will move through the area, shifting winds to more west-
northwesterly by 3-5 PM. Winds will then diminish, shifting to
north-northwesterly overnight Monday and into the daytime hours.
Dry conditions are also expected. The latest forecast has backed
off a bit on minimum afternoon relative humidities. This is due to
a slower boundary progression and uptrend and cloud cover
resulting in lower maximum temperatures today. Minimum relative
humidities are expected to be between 20-30%. The driest
conditions will be east of Highway 65, but the highest wind speeds
will be west of Highway 65. As such, there is only a 10-30% chance
of localized areas flirting with Red Flag conditions for a brief
period as the boundary passes between 10 AM and 3 PM.
Dry air will continue into Monday with 20-30% afternoon RH values,
but winds will be a bit weaker at 8-12 mph sustained
northwesterly winds.
